daily life #2
Here's an average Tuesday in my new set of
"daily life" postings. (pictures don't necessarily correspond with the daily schedule but still pictures of daily life).
TUESDAY's at YWAM Perth
6-6:30am - John up to have a quiet time with the Lord before the busy day begins.
7:15-7:30 - Laurie & kids awake, breakfast at home of either toast & jam, yogurt, eggs, sausage or oats & brown sugar, milk or juice & LOTS OF COFFEE.
8:00 - we all get ready to get out the door by 8:20am... MAD RUSH
8:30 - *kids get lathered in "sun cream" (what Jack calls it) go with Ingjerd (Norway), Burty (Mauritius), Anna (Tonga) &/or one of our staff members (child care). They go to a park, play, Anna's apt (she has two little girls), etc.
8:30-9:45 - Intercession - a time of hearing from God & praying about the things He lays on our hearts about certain topics/countries. Last Tuesday it was about the cyclone that hit Western Australia & this week it was about Thailand.
9:45-10:15 - Morning Tea Break with our class (about 20 of us) - a cup of hot coffee in peace & nice conversations with our classmates is a time we look forward to each day.
10:15-12:30pm - Class time - each week we start with a new topic. Last week's topic was Relationships (lots of good teaching about Parenting) & this week is Spiritual Warfare.
12:30-1 - lunch as a base, table of 6 or 8 & meal served family style - usually it's cold cuts, cheese, rolls, yogurt, salad, leftovers from the night before, french fries & sausages, etc.
1:30 - get kids home, shower them off (sticky with sweat, dirt & sun cream from the morning & fragments of food from lunch!)
1:30-3:30 - John goes to work duty where he does odd jobs around the base with a group of guys. John is a man of many talents & gifts...he never ceases to amaze me with all the gifts he has in him!
3:30-5:30 - John has small group with Ivan, Adrian, Elias, Olav & Richard
2 - lay both kids down for afternoon nap.
2-5 - peace. kids sleep. Laurie - email, rest, read, enjoy the peace & quiet...
5:00-5:30 - Kids up, head to base & we eat dinner. The food is actually pretty good on this base & we feel especially blessed to just sit down & eat each night & not have to prepare anything! Yay!
5:30-7:30 - Laurie has small group with Jen, Birgit, Beth, Daniela & Stanka
6:00-7:30 - John does bath, snack & playtime with the kids! Jack & Violet play with Lego's, trucks, watch a Praise Baby video, etc. = winding down time!
8:00 - kids go to bed! Easy sleepers are a blessing! We pray with Jack & Violet, give hugs & kisses & say good-night!
8:00-11 - We do our required journals, eat snacks, read, do laundry, relax, play guitar, enjoy the quiet, Laurie has her quiet time.
10-11:30 - bed. ahhhh. (some nights either one of us looks at the other one with tired eyes & says, "I'm going to bed early tonight..." Seems to be happening more lately, ha! This schedule is starting to catch up with us - it's tiring!
So there's a Tuesday for ya! As you can see this is a LONG day for John! If you're ever wondering what to pray for on a random Monday night (with the time change) - you can pray for John, that he'll have the energy to get through a long day. Thanks!
Also you can always pray for Jack & Violet - their little bodies are growing & needing lots of food & rest and they have a busy schedule. We're really trying to guard their little bodies/hearts/minds as much as we can.
The fun part, pictures:

Acting funny at "tea time"! LtoR: Ivan, Franz, Richard, Stanka, Bruno

Love this little one! She's quite a daddy's girl lately...when I go in to get her from her nap she looks right past me and says, "daddy?" She always wants to know where "daddy" is and smiles from ear to ear when she spots him in a room!

Summer fun at the park! Lots of water breaks...partly because it's hot & they're actually thirsty but partly because the drinking fountain is fun!

Like we've said the meals are great here...and they're sometimes quite creative! One night last week we had SUSHI NIGHT! But not just sushi...MAKE-YOUR-OWN-SUSHI! Ha! Each table had a bowl of rice, seaweed paper wraps, soy sauce, cream cheese, cooked/shredded chicken, veggies, ginger & water to wrap the seaweed paper with! THEN they made it a contest...the quickest to assemble, roll & slice and the most delicious. It was a frenzy of sushi rolling! Quite fun! The kids loved the sticky rice & Jack made his own roll & ate about 1/2 of it! Too funny!
Interacting with food is always a hit!
